No Age’s Wednesday noise party.

Last night was pretty okay, I went to Danbury, Connecticut for one of the only cool gigs in town lately (besides next weekend’s killer Casiotone For the Painfully Alone/Cale Parks romp in New Haven): No Age. Matt’s been on my ass about this band forever, but I wasn’t really wowed so much. However, they were in town, it was cheap and I had nothing else going on, so I decided to wing it. Thank goodness!
After getting drunk on a sixer of Pabst in my car to miss the rubbish opening acts, I went inside to catch the main act. Sadly, the show was poorly attended and the sound was awful, but I ran into friends Emily and Kristen which was nice and random and No Age’s merch gal was quite kind. Somehow (probably from me being drunk), we spoke of my moving plans and general confusion about it all, and she had lived in all the places I’ve been thinking about, save one. It was really eye opening, so thank you merch girl. I apologize for forgetting your name.
No Age fucking slayed. The shitty sound sort of worked for them, and the energy was high and the kids were moving. I picked up “Weirdo Rippers”, struck up a conversation with the drummer (who owns a great label interestingly enough) and headed home, stopping only for a burrito and later a bag of chippies. A good night indeed. For those of you who haven’t caught on the hype bus, here is an mp3 for you to enjoy: No Age - My Life’s Alright Without You.
Which brings up another point: I really enjoy how easy it is to upload files with Wordpress. I’ve been a user of Blogger since around 2002, so I feel like I’m cheating by using this service (even though I’ve been using it for the Lion & the Wire’s site for years) but I was looking for something that I could easily edit the look of and would work until I someday launch a new Pink Teeth site with a unique blogging system. So far, things have been nice. Every day since I installed the software, I’ve been editing a bit. The main person to thank is our resident designer Ally, who provided the image up top. Without that, this would be a pain in the ass to look at. You should have seen the eyesore that came with this template! So thank you Ally, you’re always a pleasure to work with. Hopefully I can post her art in a bunch of entires and even change up the header image every now and then.
This blog is still very much a work in progress, so please be patient and enjoy it. I posted some links to some friends’ art and also websites I dig on a bunch. Check them out, hopefully you’re discover or rediscover your love for what they’re doing. Thanks for reading!
